The Nicene Creed

One key question that so many are sure to ask is: what does Reborn Church believe? You can view a list of FAQs about Reborn Church at https://wearereborn.church/im-new/. In addition to our confession of the Apostles’ Creed we also confess the Nicene Creed as a church. We confess the Nicene Creed to be a accurate, Biblical reflection of our core, fundamental beliefs as a church.

The Nicene Creed, according to Know the Creeds and Councils of the Church by Justin S. Holcomb, is the “most famous and influential creed in the history of the church, because it settled the question of how Christians can worship one God and also claim that this God is three persons.” A creed is at its core a set of belief statements that we believe to be true as a church.

The Nicene Creed:

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, but whom all things were made. Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church*. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and life of the world to come. Amen.

*The holy catholic and apostolic Church indicates the true church of Jesus Christ across all time and history. This is not to be confused with the Roman Catholic Church or any specific denomination.

The Apostles’ Creed

One key question that so many are sure to ask is: what does Reborn Church believe? You can view a list of FAQs about Reborn Church at https://wearereborn.church/im-new/ but one key belief is our confession of the Apostles’ Creed. According to Know the Creeds and Councils by Justin S. Holcomb, the Apostles’ Creed “is the oldest creed of the church”. At its core, a creed is simply a series of belief statements. As a church, we confess that these belief statements are Biblical and represent key beliefs we share as a church.

The Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church*; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting, Amen.

*The holy catholic church indicates the true church of Jesus Christ across all time and history. This is not to be confused with the Roman Catholic Church.
